Development Update & What’s Coming Next

Development on MasterWoW is fully active again. This year brings major polishing, new systems, and expanded content across all our realms. Below is a clear overview of what’s currently happening and what you can expect.

MasterWoW Origin

We are proud to announce the launch of MasterWoW Origin, a realm built to accurately reflect the original MasterWoW experience from its early years.

Development on Origin is focused strictly on what matters most: quality of life improvements, performance optimization, long-term stability, and thorough bug fixing.

Any new additions are kept small, carefully balanced, and designed to respect the original mechanics and pacing of the game. There is no excessive custom content or modern shortcuts — authenticity always comes first.

To ensure the highest possible quality, a dedicated Test Server is currently running with preserved accounts and characters from the years 2007–2011.

Community feedback plays an important role. Players can report bugs, suggest improvements, or share ideas through our Discord server in #chat-origin.

MasterWoW Reborn

The MasterWoW Reborn realm is undergoing a major rework focused on simplifying progression while expanding long-term content. The main goal is to deliver a modern TBC experience with huge amounts of content, but without chaos.

Main features and changes

The biggest change is a complete redesign of PvE and PvP gear acquisition, which will now be handled through a single main NPC instead of dozens of vendors spread across the world.

Unified NPC system:

• All gear available through one main NPC
• Tier-based progression with saved character progress
• Next tier unlocks automatically after purchasing the previous one

PVP Systems

• Battleground brackets
• Player kill reputation
• Chain-step gear progression system:
  • Gear purchased by tiers (armor, accessories, weapons)
  • Character progress is saved
  • After buying a tier item (e.g. T8 head), the next tier (T9) becomes available
  • System can include additional requirements such as rating, reputation, or other conditions
• Daily and weekly challenges
• PvP leaderboards

PVE Progression
PvE progression is still in the design phase. Current concepts include reputation- or token-based systems (for example PvE T6 tokens) to control gear requirements in a structured way, similar to PvP progression systems.

Additional Updates
- 10 new mount packs downported from other expansions
- Planned downport of a large Legion weapon skin pack (250 skins), if feasible

- A completely new Wrath of the Lich King project is in active development
- Alpha testing planned in approximately 2 months
